The Heart Of A Caged Bird

In a golden cage there lives a bird

that seems quite like no other
confined to the bars around her
eyes longing to see the world.

She dreams of soaring high in the sky
painting her wings in the crimson
hues of the sun rays
but her feet is tied, aren't wings meant to fly?

People travel from far and near
to claim this unusual bird
trying to possess and show off
making it merely an object.

She tries to sing out the song of freedom
but is choked with emotions
suffocated by the surroundings
but she won't ever give up.

One day, she would be a free bird
and all her wishes would come true
flying away from out of your reach
to a happy mystical land of peace.

How it feels: Falling in love for the second time

The first time you were in love was like a fairy tale. You were unhurt, not experienced, and accepted love with open arms but then it fell apart and you were left heartbroken. You hid under the blankets, cried for sleepless nights and ate countless tubs of chocolate ice cream to feel better but none of them quite worked. You couldn't understand what went wrong and how someone with which you planned your future is not a part of it anymore. You realize how people could stop meaning all sweet things they said to you and can easily break promises. You no longer know how to trust people anymore. You carry the lessons you learned and keep them in mind when you possibly love someone again.

The second time you fall in love with someone, you don't really fall. You walk, stop, check, hope, walk, doubt, stop, walk. You're more cautious. You already got your heart broken and cannot risk it for an another time but you're relieved, you're relieved because you can feel the butterflies in your stomach again and know that some one else loves you back again. You worry that your ex will find love sooner than you but then you remember and you can peacefully sleep while talking to this new person again.

You're now going to be a more sane person. The first time you became an insane monster not knowing how to act in various situations with all those powerful feelings but now you have grown and you have learned and you know what works and what doesn't. Although not perfectly.

You would always compare the first love with your second and that is okay. You will be judging and comparing each and every move just to make sure those mistakes are not repeated this time, weighing out all the negatives and the positives and being surprised how can you love a person this different than the last.

First love would be special. It gave you lessons to remember and taught you how to love. It is dreamy and far away from reality but once you get your heart broken you come into an isolated bubble where you want to stay out of reach. Then comes a person whom you would let inside the bubble making yourself vulnerable but this time you're mature and both of you rise in the bubble.

Things to do when you're sick and alone

Curled under a blanket on the couch, I thought to myself that it would have been nice to have someone around. Someone who cares and can look after me when i'm down with cold and cough. Someone who could make me food, give me my medicines on time, do the household chores and assure me that this phase will pass. Too sad that I live alone miles away from home in the university.

Yes, I'm down with cold and cough and believe me if getting sick isn't worse, getting sick when you're all alone definitely is. You have to do all your chores and take care of yourself both at the same time which can be tiring. So here are some of my tips on what to do when you're sick and alone (in no particular order) :

1. Don't care about your looks:
No makeup on, no scented body lotions, no cute dresses... Throw on some comfy pjs, a quick messy bun, warm blanket and welcome to comfy land.

2.Stop worrying:
Don't worry on how much work has been piled up because you took a day off today. Don't worry about cleaning the house. Take it easy, everything can wait.

Get your beauty sleep!
3.Take a nap:
Although you may have trouble sleeping regularly, when you are sick you tend to get tired more often. Take a nap and replenish your energy and when you will wake up you will probably feel more refreshed than before.

4. Take a hot bubble bath:
Hot water can have therapeutic qualities when you have aches and pains which can be very relaxing. Also it cleanses you and helps get all the bacteria off.

5. Communicate:
Just because you're living alone, that doesn't mean that you're lonely. Text or call your friends, skype with your family and pet. Catch up with the emails in your inbox. Stay in touch!

6. Eat:
You may not feel like eating anything but that is when you most have to. Staying empty stomach won't do any good.
Comes with added antioxidants.

7. Drink tea:
It helps your body to stay hydrated and gives the healthy benefits of tea leaves. A cup of hot tea provides your body a sense of relaxation and helps you feel cozy and warm. Similar to taking a hot bath, it can be very therapeutic.

8. Listen to music:
Plug in your earphones and listen to your favorite tunes. It helps you to distract you from your sickness, just be sure to turn on a happy upbeat song to lift your spirits.

9. Don't miss medicines:
You're not a 5 year old anymore who refuses to take any medicines. Don't avoid taking medicines. without it, it will probably take you weeks to get better.

10. Get some fresh air:
Step outside and feel the warm sunlight shining on your face and the cool breeze flirting with your hair. The fresh air would do wonders in lifting up your spirits.

Get rest and remember, you would be better tomorrow! :)
